Embarcadero Media, the local news company of Silicon Valley, has an opening in our business department for an enthusiastic learner and team player to assist with payroll and accounting tasks. This is an entry-level position that will expose the right candidate to all aspects of the company's financial operations and give him or her a firm background in business administration processes. Recent graduates, current students and those returning to the workforce are encouraged to apply.
The Business Associate will assist with payroll, benefits and human resources-related tasks but will have the opportunity to work on accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks as well.
The Business Associate position can be either part-time or full-time in our Palo Alto office with flexible scheduling and a great team-oriented work environment that values enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. The position reports to the chief financial officer and works closely with all members of the business department and managers across Embarcadero.
Qualified candidates will have at least an associate's degree in accounting, business or related field or 2-3 years experience in a business administration role. You should be comfortable with Excel and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

Primary job responsibilities--Business Associate (actual responsibilities will reflect company’s needs as determined by CFO):
Assist CFO and Business Manager with processing of payroll and benefits.
Assist with new and departing employee paperwork and processes.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation.
Work with business department colleagues to do payroll accounting and expense analysis.
As schedule permits, assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks including invoicing customers and managing vendors.
